The 8th Annual Ashton Community Bursary Awards were held on Thursday the 30th November in the McSweeney Centre in Henry Place. The purpose of the scheme is to enable Ashton to provide financial assistance to other community projects in the local area especially where financial resources for a group are extremely limited and where they rely mainly on voluntary commitment. This year’s awards ceremony was attended by representatives from 12 separate local groups where all were presented with cheques to assist with their work. In total over £5,000 was provided.

Since the bursary scheme first started Ashton has provided over 100 individual awards to local groups and projects. This has amounted to over £50,000. In providing financial support Ashton is recognising the commitment, dedication and effort of the people that work to sustain these fantastic local groups.
