Welcome to the Happy Days Project, a Social Economy Day Opportunity tailored for young adults aged 19-35 with learning disabilities and /or autism.

Designed with insights from participants, parents, educators, and social workers, our bespoke programmes cater to individual needs.

Our latest venture nurtures growth within a supportive community environment, empowering each participant to flourish and lead fulfilling, age -appropriate lives.

Why Us

For three decades, Ashton Community Trust (Ashton) has been the cornerstone of comprehensive wrap-around support in North Belfast. Our evidence based and community led services span diverse projects, from training and employment to arts and culture, well-being, youth engagement, and social inclusion.

Drawing from this wealth of experience, we’ve carefully curated a range of activities through collaborative efforts with potential participants, their families, educators, and social workers.

These bespoke, person-centred programmes are finely tailored to address the unique needs of each participant, ensuring tangible outcomes such as:

  • Increased Independent living

Venue and Facilities

Happy Days, situated in the McSweeney Centre in the heart of North Belfast, offers a nurturing environment where every participant receives dedicated support within a community development frame work.

Here, we empower young adults to cultivate the skills, knowledge, and confidence essential for realising their full potential and leading independent, fulfilling lives. Our state of the art facilities, featuring bright and spacious areas including a game zone, arts and crafts room, sensory space, fully-equipped kitchen, and more, provide abundant opportunities for personal growth and development.

9:30 – 10.00 Drop off / Registration / Facilitated socialisation opportunity.
10:00 – 11:00 Accredited Skills Development e.g. personal development, communication.
11:00 – 11:15 Mid-morning break / facilitated socialisation opportunity.
11:15 – 12:15 Independent living and social well-being activities e.g. cooking classes, money management and more.
12:15 – 13:00 Lunch / facilitated socialisation opportunity.
13:00 – 14:00 Physical well-being activities e.g. gym work outs, walking tours, swimming, football, zumba and more.
14:15 – 14:30 Mid-afternoon break / facilitated socialisation opportunity.
14:30 – 15:30 Emotional well-being activities: Yoga, mindfulness, creative activities (art, music, drama), gardening etc.
